Ask Queen B
Stamen stamina

Q: Juliet sent me a dozen red roses. Any tips for make them last as long as possible?

-Romeo

A: Unfortunately viagra doesn't work on long stems. But there are a few simple steps you can take to have your roses last longer than you may be used to:
  1. Give her quick thank you kiss – you can thank her properly later. You need to get those flowers out the the box immediately.

  2. Find a nice deep vase (something every bachelor pad should have tucked away somewhere). Fill the vase with warm water (stir in floral preservative or an aspirin).

  3. Remove any leaves from the stems that will end up in water when placed in the vase. Cut off the bottom of the stems on an angle with a sharp knife.

  4. Place the roses in vase – you might want to let Juliet help you with this step.

  5. Change the water after 24 hours. After this, re-cut stems and change water every 2 or 3 days. Remove any droopy or sick looking petals or leaves as you see them.

  6. Take the time to smell the roses (and thank Juliet) everyday
